Summer's joy

The Underground group published this poster in the summer of 1922 to promote travel to London's green spaces by bus. The illustration of a young family enjoying a day's swimming is by the prolific artist Laura Knight. The quote at the bottom, which reiterates the joy of summer, is from a popular poem by Robert Browning. Knight became the first female Royal Academician in 1936.
