The Sun-Herald Tournament was a competition contested by eight golf professionals each from the 'Northern section' (NSW and Queensland) and the 'Southern section' (Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania). Those who qualified for the Northern section were Frank Eyre, Dan Soutar, Fred Popplewell, Don Spence, Tom Howard, Will Corry, Walter Clark and Steve Holder.
