The first work by this San Antonio native to enter the McNay's Permanent Collection, the artwork bridges many scientific disciplines, including astronomy, biology, cardiology, oceanography, paleontology, and psychology, to disciplines within the humanities. Over the past decade, Robleto’s unique combination of curiosity and empathy—and a firm belief that art can and should make a difference in the world—have led him in diverse, unorthodox directions. Similar to other sculptures by the artist, this one comprises a wide range of materials, including seashells, butterfly wings, paper, powder pigments, beads, and Plexiglas, all meticulously transformed by Robleto into a dazzling assemblage.
