In 1904, the Original Hanau laboratories developed a quartz lamp whose UV luminous efficacy almost equaled the sun’s. The history of the sun lamp, however, did not begin until 1911. Sun lamps – together with a dose of cod liver oil – were a way to prevent deficiencies. However, they were also used to obtain a “healthy tan.” This attractive model reflects the style of the 1950s in its design and color.
