NASA’s Super Guppy lands at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama to pick up the Orion spacecraft stage adapter test article.
NASA’s Super Guppy is capable of transporting the large parts of the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion spacecraft on their path to the pad.
It has a cargo compartment that is 25 feet tall, 25 feet wide and 111 feet long and can carry more than 26 tons.
The aircraft has a unique hinged nose that can open more than 200 degrees, allowing large pieces of cargo to be loaded and unloaded from the front.
It has carried pieces of Orion and SLS rocket to multiple processing facilities throughout the United States.
