Rero’s work words and their expressive power are in the spotlight. Rero removes images, completely denies them, in favour of a succession of letters that make up words and a slogan. In doing so he highlights the crunch in communication that characterises our time. The urban fabric that the artist has chosen to transmit his message is like a blank paper to write on, using to distinguish himself one of the most common fonts in telecommunication: Verdana. Caught in between distinctive and common, instant recognition and explicit message, the artist isn’t trying to impose his thoughts: even in the briefness of this communication, crossing out all his words like a self-censor, he leaves space for the spectator to interpret reality.
