In Ilobu in Nigeria around 1955, Susanne Wenger expanded the range of her artistic media to intergrate the batik technique in her repertoire. She had a serious illness behind her, which was followed by the exciting period of initiation into the cult of the òrìṣà (Yorùbá deities). [...] Switching to batik technique brought calm back into her life. Wenger reduced this new work process to a limited colour palette.
