This archive image shows Susanne Wenger in the Ọ̀ṣun Groves alongside one of the artists of the New Sacred Art Movement, Adebisi Akanji. The child on Wenger's lap is Akanji's son, Adebisi Nurudeen, who grew up to become a New Sacred Artist in his own right and is now a senior restoration artist working in the groves. Susanne Wenger loved children and they were always milling around her. Adebisi Akanji, originally a bricklayer and creator of cement ornamentation on Brazilian style houses, is also a cement sculptor and Wenger’s close collaborator and co-creator of many of the large sculptures in the groves. Also a painter and batik artist, he created some of the bent-wire fences on the site.
