Gert Chesi, Austrian photographer and author, is shown with Susanne Wenger and artists of the New Sacred Art Movement in the Ọ̀ṣun Òṣogbo Sacred Grove in 1978. With them are two master artists of the Movement: Adebisi Akanji and Rabiu Abesu. The child in this photograph is Adebisi Nurudeen, son of Akanji, who grew up to become a New Sacred Artist in his own right. Nurudeen is today the lead restoration artist working on the maintenance of the large body of artworks in the groves. Gert Chesi and Wenger co-authored 'A Life with the Gods in Their Yoruba Homeland' - published in 1983, about Yorùbá spirituality, the art created in the Sacred Ọ̀ṣun Groves and the life of Susanne Wenger.
