Svirzh Castle is located in the town of Svirzh in the Lviv region. The castle was built in the XIV century and has been one of the most important fortresses in western Ukraine for centuries. At one time, it served as the residence of the Rurikids princes, Polish kings and nobles. Svirzh Castle was destroyed during the Russo-Turkish War in the XVII century and later rebuilt in the neo-Gothic style.
