Vertical, rectangular piece. Blue velvet background with various shades of yellow, and a gold plant design consisting of repeated pomegranate and pineapple motifs within a thistle outline, crowned with a pineapple motif. It is arranged in five horizontal rows, each with four motifs. The edges are finished with a hem and it is lined with a beige supporting fabric.
In this design, Fortuny uses stenciling to imitate the embossed velvet cloths of the late 15th century, when velvets with pomegranate and pineapple motifs framed in regular patterns became the most sought-after fabric.
