Dasikpan is a tool to press when making dasik, and it is also referred to as yakgwapan. Dasik is a snack consisting of flour made by roasting flower pollen, sesame seeds, beans or sticky rice, then mixing it with Korean hard taffy (yeot) and honey. In the process of making dasik, a sweets mold is used to create a particular shape. When making, sesame oil is applied to the inside of the upper and lower plates of a sweets mold, the support is inserted between the plates, removed after filling the holes in the upper plate with dasik dough, and then the upper part is pressed down, which produces a complete dasik embossed with various patterns. Sweets molds are divided into upper and lower plates. Eight to ten embossed 3cm-long circular forms (凸) are attached to the lower plate and their surfaces are engraved patterns of auspicious letters wishing long life, happiness and peace (壽福康寧), a Buddhist swastika, a flower and geometric lines. Round holes are punched in the upper plate to fit the lower plate, and there are supports inserted between the upper and lower plates. Sweets molds are made with durable wood such as persimmon, chestnut, oak and birch.
