William Morris Gallery
Walthamstow, London, United Kingdom

This is one of Arthur Heygate Mackmurdo's earliest working drawing for a wallpaper design. The finished wallpaper, called 'Swirling Leaf', was retailed by the Century Guild (see B27 and B30 in WMG collection for finished wallpaper). This may be the Mackmurdo-designed wallpaper which the wallpaper manufacturers Jeffrey & Co. exhibited at the Fine Art & Industrial Exhibition in Manchester in 1882.
