September 1945: The ruins of the Tielshafer Synagogue in Berlin, burnt by the Nazis on 'Kristallnacht' in November 1938. Property confiscated from Jews was stored here, but all was destroyed when it bombed by the Allies in 1944. Services are now held in a newly reconstructed synagogue.
