Tabakobon (tobacco tray)

A tobacco tray made from a gourd. It is skillfully hollowed out so that the pot for charcoal container and ash receptacle can be put. A big leaf is depicted with lacquer, and the leaf veins are expressed with gold. A cricket, decorated in gold maki-e, is sticking his head out of a hole in the leaf.
