Tabakobon (tobacco tray)

This gorgeous tray is from the Kishu-Tokugawa family. A lot of peonies and butterflies are depicted in gold and silver maki-e. The lids of the containers on the tray are made of silver. From its compact size and beautiful design, it is considered that it was made for the noble women.
