Tabakobon (tobacco tray)

A boat-shaped tray made of "shimagaki" wood. Shimagaki is kaki wood that has the black stripes. Such kaki is formed by mutation result and was sold as high-grade wood. This tray is composed of the motif associated to the sea. The waves are decorated at the bottom of the boat, and the handle for carrying the tray is made from baleen.
