This tobacco pouch is made of striped fabric called "tozan". Imported tozan, especially red tozan was prized in the Edo period. The pouch's fitting metal has the shape of a wild boar and a monkey riding on the back of the wild boar. The decorations of kiseruzutsu (Japanese pipe case), that is made of tortoiseshell, represent geese and autumn plants.
