This tobacco pouch was probably used by Ainu people, an indigenous people of northern Japan. The pouch and kiseruzutsu (Japanese pipe case) are made of wood. Ojime (cord fastener) is made from antler. The sophisticated works can be found on the pattern engraved on the case. The case was made to imitate "higebera", literally moustache comb, an important tool used by Ainu people.
