Table clock

Table clock, decorated with two female figures dressed in Graeco-Roman style. It is a copy of a clock made in 1778 by the clockmaker Robin of Paris, for Marie Antoinette Queen of France, today preserved in Paris National Museum of Decorative Arts. It has the name of François-Louis Godon, clockmaker of His Majesty the King Charles IV of Spain. The difference with the piece of the Tuileries is in the porcelaine central plaque: it has a scene of putti making wine and not vegetable elements like Marie Antoinette’s piece.
The sphere maker Coteau, bronze worker Thomire and designer J. D. Dogoure worked with the clockmaker François-Louis Godon on this piece. The motive of the vestals is taken from the engravings made by Hubert Robert for the compendium Recueil de Griffonis, de Vues, Paysages, Fragments Antiques.
