The museum has an impressive collection of dollhouses, but most date from the late 19th to the early 20th centuries; few of the examples in the collection date from the mid 20th century, and even fewer of those are handcrafted and include the handcrafted furnishings. This donation represents the product of a talented woodworking hobbyist who lovingly labored to build an object of play first for his daughter, then for his grandchildren. This dollhouse, then, represents adult play as well as child's play.
