Tairiiri. Fan. Composite tairiiri woven from natural and dyed-green paeore (pandanus), attached to a mauranga (handle) rakau (wooden). The blade is in the shape of a diamond. Tairiiri is woven in a right-angle weaving technique. The rim of the tairiiri all along the blade has a patara (serrated) edge. The rim section has been machine sewn to the rest of the blade. Natural colour with sheen. Akamanea (decorative) elements at all four points of the diamond shape of the fan consisting of small dyed-green and natural coloured flower 'rosettes' also made of paeore. Two dyed-green akamanea overlaid into the weaving at the apex of the blade forming small crosses in check. Faces of the blade are not identical. Other side of the blade is plain with no decoration. Blade is attached to a mauranga rakau that has been woven over by paeore.
