Takachiho Gorge

Votive pictures from Aratate Shrine, located within the precincts of Takachiho Shrine. The meototsugi (“husband and wife cedar”) is a tree where the roots have become one and is a symbol of happiness in marriage, which is why many heart-shaped votive pictures hang here.
