"River," a Bald Eagle, was rescued on May 31, 2019, when county wildlife officer Scott Childers noticed the bird could run but seemed unable to fly. May Wildlife Rehabilitation Center at Lees McRae College cared for the bird until it was transported to Carolina Raptor Center for evaluation on June 6, 2019. Thanks to the combined expertise of May Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and Carolina Raptor Center, patient 22513 made a full recovery in just one month of treatment and was approved for release on Wednesday, July 2, 2019.
