Among his literary writings, Leonardo dedicates himself to the composition of fairy tales and humorous pieces, where he freely reworks elements from various works he has read (Aesop’s fairy tales, Sacchetti’s novels, Poggio’s facetiae, etc.). Around 1490, he collected together some fairy tales, accompanying them with small sketches of plants (cedar, peach, walnut, fig and elm).
