Tally:"Stretchums" tally

The card game contract bridge, or simply bridge, grew out of earlier games such as whist which originated in England. Bridge in the United States reached the peak of its popularity during the 1940s. Millions of people, especially senior citizens, still play and enjoy bridge. Scoring during the play is often best done by keeping track of how many hands, or rounds, a player or team wins on a separate sheet or printed form called a "tally." Decorative and novelty tallys were printed up in great numbers during the 1940s and throughout the rest of the twentieth century. Like printed ink blotters and trade cards before them, they were also inexpensive advertising preminums.
