Made in 1709 (35th year of the King Sukjong's reign), this map titled Tamna Jido Byeongseo is known to be the oldest map of Jeju discovered so far. The map, made by putting three wooden blocks together, contains geographical notes on the upper and lower part. The precise and detailed information in the map made it kept by the court and extensively exploited as a basic material for the Jeju maps produced afterward. As for the orientation, South is at the top of the map as it was drawn from the viewpoint of the capital where the king resided.
