Part of Huang Tse-hsiu's ?"Ripples on the Tamsui River"? series, the 1951 photo was one of several he took in and around the Lin Family Mansion and Garden. Although the two antique moon archways are at the center of the picture, the focus is on the human figures. The woman carrying a basket and stepping through the arch is the main subject, the child and the people strolling in the distance secondary figures. A slice-of-life snapshot, the work is natural and uncontrived.
