Carpet made of two wool cloths woven and sewn together lengthwise, it presents a decorative pattern which is a variation on the one called “open arms”. The “open arms” decorative motif could derive from a pre-Hispanic iconography, representing an owl, that can be found in the local pottery. This iconography undergoes a gradual geometrization in the local pottery styles prior to the conquest and is maintained in modern times weaving under the form of stylized open wings which, in some cases, also present phytomorphic characters.
