Taupo'o (Hat)

Taupo'o. Hat. Woven from strips of plant fibre, possibly paeore (pandanus). The commencement is from the top of the crown, and is woven out in a twill weave. The strips of plant fibre have been woven to form wide strips, which have been machine sewn together, using cotton thread. Crown is oval in shape, with the brim circular in shape, with the crown placed off-centre, creating an uneven brim width around the crown. The brim is with a serrated edge. The centre of the crown has slightly sunken inwards. Light golden brown in colour.
