Technicians install the spacecraft airborne support equipment to the Orbital Sciences' L-1011 carrier aircraft. This equipment will maintain the in-flight monitoring and control of the NuSTAR spacecraft before the release of the Pegasus XL rocket.
The Pegasus will launch NuSTAR into space where the high-energy x-ray telescope will conduct a census for black holes, map radioactive material in young supernovae remnants, and study the origins of cosmic rays and the extreme physics around collapsed stars.
