The Hebrew inscription reads, [the] s[ervant] of God, Solomon Amiel Noah, son of the member Joseph S[ephardi] T[ahor].

The composition of the embroidered decoration, a central motif with diagonal corner elements may be traced back to medieval Spain. The use of a bag to contain holy objects (like relics) is also known from the same source.

The appellation Sephardi Tahor, lit. a pure Sephardi, was used by those who traced thier origins to pre-Expulsion Spain.
