This sitting mat or cior is often used during weddings for the Malay community in Perak, not so long ago. The usage became a regular requirement for the solemnisation ceremony as a beautiful seating mat for the bride or groom to sit on. In the sulam tekat embroidery artwork which is the heritage of the state of Perak, the thread used is gold-plated thread and a velvet fabric base. A wooden frame is used to stretch the velvet cloth as well as a mempulur (motif mouldl) are used in making the sitting mat. In addition to that, gold thread is used to form the embroidered flowers with heavy cloud motif on every layer of the mat.
