A day after the murders at Stringy Bark Creek, Inspecting Superintendent Nicolson, from the Benalla police station, wrote this telegram for the police at Jamieson, to distribute amongst other local police stations. The telegram states that a reward of 800 is to be offered by the Government for the arrest and conviction of the outlaws. At 200 per outlaw, it was posted as a means of inducing information from Kelly sympathisers and others who may have had information regarding the outlaws whereabouts. An annotation overleaf by an officer states that he distributed 50 reward posters over Jamieson, Woods Point, Gaffney and Darlingford.
