Ten Commandments panel

Lucas Cranach and his workshop created this panel on behalf of the Wittenberg Council. The magistrate thus had the law of God in mind when exercising his jurisdiction. In the depictions of the individual commandments, the picture shows a multitude of details from everyday life at the beginning of the 16th century.
