Teresa De Giuli Borsi (1817-1877), whose real name was Maria Teresa Pippeo, stood out for interpreting verdian heroines. Her great role was as Lydia in the opera "La battaglia di Legnano", expressly written for her by Verdi and premiered at Teatro Argentina in Rome, on January 27, 1849.
The inscription in the engraving testifies her passage through Portugal, where she integrated the casts of several operas during the 1856/57 season.
