  • Artist Biography: Otto Karas (pseudonym for Kaufman) was born in a traditional Jewish family in Prague in 1896. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and worked as an illustrator. He did many paintings, engravings and sketches of his native city. He was deported to Theresienstadt, where he signed many sketches "OKaras". He was deported to Auschwitz in September 1944, where he perished.
