The wall patterns are inspired by the digital camouflage used by the Australian Army. The town names on the red steel wall panels are Victorian place names for recruits from the Second World War, Korea and Vietnam indicating places of birth with 1,826 towns listed.
Other symbolism includes trellises attached to the walls with its colour matching the Australian Army uniform; vegetation reflecting indigenous plants from south-east Asia conflict locations; and the use of sleepers and rails in reference to the BurmaThailand Railway.
