The National television factory opened in Penrith, New South Wales, in 1968.

This image comes from the Trade Publicity Branch Film and Photographic Library, now held in the National Archives. Originally used by the Department of Trade for promotional purposes, this vast collection is the legacy of government photographers who captured thousands of images over 40 years. Subjects range across a wide variety of Australian themes, including industrial and rural activities, and urban life.
