FOR FIRST PUBLICATIONS WEDNESDAY'S DAILIES, December 10th. JS 10.12.1952. CLYDE YARD COMPLETING FIRST OF LARGEST BRITISH TANKERS. Now nearing completion in readiness for the launching ceremony on December 17th at Messrs John Brown's famous shipyard on the Clyde, is the 32,000 ton tanker "BRITISH SAILOR" the first of seven similar sized tankers for the British Tanker Company. The vessel will be the largest British oil tanker ever launched on the Clyde, and will be the largest British owned tanker sailing the seas. Nearby in the same yard a start has been made on the second tanker, the BRITISH SOLDIER, and they will make a valuable addition to the British Tanker Company's fleet bringing oil from the Middle East to the refineries in Britain. This is one of the scenes taken illustrating their construction, and shows:- A welder at work on a tank hatch on BRITISH SAILOR. INDUSTRY - SHIPBUILDING
