Thanatos

Thanatos faithfully reflects the fundamental problems raised by its creator. This is the reason for “the cadences and tensions of volume” that, as he himself has pointed out, predominate in his sculptures, and also for the division of the mass of the sculpture into two basically twin parts, attached to each other by a centre which can be understood either as a generator or as a meeting point.

This theme can be found in other sculptures from the beginning of the seventies, while it must be noted that there is a very large stainless steel version of this work, which was done in the same year and is installed at ITT headquarters in Brussels. There is also another smaller one, likewise from the same year, in Calatorao stone.
