United Kingdom

London Transport commissioned this poster in 1935. It was designed by Hans Schleger to promote travel by Underground. London Transport sought to capitalise on its trademark in every way possible. Like many poster artists of the day, Schleger has used the roundel as an integral part of the design. During the 1930s, commissions from internationally known designers such as Schleger greatly enriched the artistic range of London Transport posters.
