Directly elected as the thirteenth president of the republic, Roh Tae-woo's inauguration proceeded at the plaza in front of the National Assembly at 10 a.m., on Feb. 25, 1988, with 25,000 people present at the ceremony. It proceeded in the order of opening, pledge of allegiance, ceremonial remarks, oath of office, inaugural address, and closing.
