As prelude to the competition, the jurors of the 2015 competition were invited to perform on the day prior to the start of the Preliminary Round. The flags across the back of the stage represent ALL 50 states of the United States of America and highlight the Foundation's mission to support young, American pianists. Here, the wonderful pianist and winner of the 1995 National Chopin Piano Competition, Jon Nakamatsu rehearses before the concert. Soon thereafter, the Miami-Dade County Auditorium was full with Chopin enthusiasts from near and far.
