The subject matter of the Infant Jesus’ veneration comes to life in several of P. Domšaitis’ canvases. In constructing The Adoration, the painter keeps to Christian iconography with three wise men and their entourage. Above the compact group of main actors hangs an atmosphere of deep solemnity. An angel’s silhouette emerges from the plane of silver light in the top right corner of the painting, while the silver reflections of heavenly light are repeated in Mary’s robe. The rich colouring of the painting is enhanced by the lighting and shape illumination effects characteristic to P.  Domšaitis’ painting.
