The meeting and conflict, the eternal interplay between Eros and Thanatos mark
surely our human gait in the labyrinth of existence; its prevalence
one or the other, in terms of the spirit, before on the biological, persuades
being, made in the image and likeness of their god, to break the
veil of certainty, only to find themselves in that set of contradictions, that we
usually call life. Eros Thanatos is both vibrate together in the work of the altar
Mickey Monica Anselmi and Luigi Bianchini, presented at the Biennale
Venice in the Collective La Grande Bouffe. The installation shows how impressive
altarpiece that comes unmistakably from the duality underlying the theme of
Pavilion on the death and the Garden of the disorder. In existential dynamics,
the experience of Eros and Thanatos are concatenated and alternate each other,
penetrating.
The altar of Mickey Mouse consists of a panel flip flop,
a technical solution capable of making a visual sense of transience and duality
of the image as it is perceived on the retina of the eye and, at the same time, makes
possible union of the two works separately by the two artists. The job
Monica Anselmi was composed with typographical colors laid directly roller
on a smooth surface. The structure in regular bands at the top, which refers
inevitably to that of the landscape with its horizon line, dissolves
the center where earth tones blend with the full red. The look of
viewer is thus driven towards a visual limit beyond which lies a hypothetical
"Metaphysical void". The work of Louis Bianchini has been realized, however, with a technique
mixed, which saw among others the manipulation of the base support with the
paper, the use of the airbrush, sagging and other manual intervention. In both works
the chromatic relationships play on shades of red and black, which are symbolic
dualism Eros and Thanatos.
