The English painter George Stubbs took the study of comparative anatomy to a new level with his illustrations of the skeleton and musculature of the horse. The full title of this work promises ‘a particular description of the bones, cartilages, muscles, fascias, ligaments, nerves, arteries, veins and glands’.
