The Annunciation to the Shepherds

This canvas arrived in the Academy’s gallery via the Fabio Rosa bequest in 1753. The painting is one of several versions of the same biblical/pastoral scene, other examples of which are conserved at the National Gallery of Art in Washington and in the Duke of Rutland’s Collection. [M. Francucci]
