The "Architecture of Shame" exhibition

"Architecture of Shame" is a project co-produced by Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation.
Through an exhibition, workshops, laboratories and events, 2019 will be the year of celebration of “shame" as a chance for reflection, study and revitalization of a territory.
With this aim in mind, from the city that seventy years ago was defined by Togliatti as "the shame of Italy", a psychoanalytic session which embraces the whole of Europe raises two fundamental questions: how many pieces of architecture that we live with and accept as normal, actually contradict our values to the point that they should be reason for shame?
All the materials, which are the result of the study, dialogue and action of the project, in collaboration with Italian and European universities and partners, will then be put into the "Atlas of Shame" and on an online platform created for this purpose.
