One of the five remaining panels from the polyptych from the Charola of the Convent of Christ.

In 1510, twelve panels painted on oak depicting the life and passion of Christ were commissioned, each 4 meters high by 2.5 meters wide. It is widely assumed the paintings were made by the Portuguese renaissance painter Jorge Afonso.
